Achilles Tendonitis

Temecula Chiropractor – Achilles Tendonitis

Achilles’ Tendonitis is an overuse injury which can occur from any type of repetitive pounding motion (running) in virtually any sport. Constant pull from the muscles of the calf on the tendon causes inflammation on the point of insertion on the bone. The tendon itself naturally lacks much blood flow and has a decreased ability for healing for that reason. With constant stress on the tendon and surrounding muscles this is a condition which needs immediate treatment to prevent further injury. One thing to remember about this injury is that if not addressed and continually trained on, rupture of the tendon is possible. Treatment of the muscles causing the increased tension on the tendon is extremely important in resolution of this problem.

Increased tightness of the calf muscles is usually caused by build-up of scar tissue from trauma associated with sports and over-training. Achilles’ tendonitis responds very well with the combination of Active Release Technique and Chiropractic adjustments. If you only address the soft tissue the biomechanical changes which occur in the ankle and foot joints may not resolve. Your local Temecula and Murrieta Chiropractor is here to help!
